Tús
Tús is the new national community work placement scheme set up by the Department of Social Protection (DSP). The countywide scheme, which will have 100 participants in Co. Clare, is delivered by Clare Local Development Company.
Participants are randomly selected from the live register by the DSP to undertake work for a variety of community and voluntary groups for a 12 month period. The type of work undertaken is similar to the Rural Social Scheme, with some new activities added. Potential participants will be interviewed by CLDC to assess their suitability for the work available.
Recruitment of participants and supervisors is currently taking place. The five Clare Tús schemes will be set up over the May-August period. Community groups who are interested in offering placements to Tús workers can contact Jackie Bonfield in CLDC at jbonfield@cldc.ie or at 065 6866800.
Groups who have already registered their interest will be contacted in the coming weeks.
CLDC’s five Tús Supervisors can be found in the following areas of the county;
Burren - Paula O’Leary
Kilrush - Kevin Callinan
Ennis West - Fran O’Donoghue
Shannon - Brendan Burke
South East - Gary O’Shea
As the Scheme is rolled out countywide, Tús Supervisors will supervise some RSS workers in their areas to avoid overlap on the ground. RSS Supervisors will also look after some Tús workers in their areas. Click here for more information on the Rural Social Scheme.
