Here are some student testimonials from learners currently studying on the Level 4 Return to Learning programmes in Kilrush and Ennistymon:
"It's been almost 20 years since I did a course of any kind, so I have to say I was nervous when I started this FETAC Level 4. But I have to say it's been really good for me. I've gotten a lot out of this especially as I didn't complete my Leaving Cert and it was something I always regretted.
We have completed most of the modules already. I've learned something from all of them. The ones I've completed are Woodcraft and Computers, with Communications and Maths almost finished now too. In my own opinion I found Computers the best as I felt I've learned a lot, with Woodcraft and Communications coming a close second.
For anybody with even the least bit of interest in learning and improving their overall confidence and personal effectiveness I couldn't recommend this course highly enough."
Tommy C, Kilrush.
"Getting on this course was a kick start to restarting the learning process. Once you know you are in and will hopefully achieve a FETAC certification at the end is a big motivator to do my very best. It is unlikely most of us will ever get this type of opportunity again
I would say to someone thinking about signing up for this program that they should definetly give it a go. Be prepared for new experiences and your network of friends will be greatly enhanced"
Gerry, Kilrush.
"I have learned how to express myself better in public speaking, how to use woodwork tools properly, computer applications, maths.
I would advise someone who is interested to go for it. It is a well laid out programme for those who did not know how to use computers before or do maths or communications. You also have tutors to help you every step of the way by encouraging you that you can do it"
Kenneth, Kilrush.
"What I have learned so far is how to use a computer, send emails, print out typing, look up things on the internet. These are things I could not do before and I find that now I can't do without it. I have looked up places on the internet that I would be going to beforehand and it is amazing to get all the information beforehand.
I would say to anyone to go for it big time. Well worth it. You also get to meet new people and make new friends""
Thomas, Kilrush.
"I have learned how to make a jewellery box, wouldn't have known how to go about it before. Have learned how to do simple maths, how to convery fractions to % and how to convert % discount on an item to a real figure. I can write things down on paper and could fill up an application form for a job and write a proper cover letter.
To me it has meant something to get up for in the morning and I try to get as much out of it as I can. Anyone thinking of signing up, I would say give it a go, there is something there for you

"Being apprehensive about returning to school after being so long in full time employment, I have really enjoyed the course so far. The communications skills and IT skills in particular I found helpful, in making out CV's and preparing for interviews.
I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to further their education in a no pressure, friendly environment"
Eddie, Kilrush.
"I have learned IT skills, learned about reading articles and working as a team.
For someone thinking about going back to learning I would highly recommend it. I have just passed the 60 year mark, having left school at 14. It was something I have wanted to do for a very long time and am enyoying it so far.
"
