This is a FÁS funded Local Training Initiative. This course is sponsored by Clare Local Development Company.
Programme Aim
The aim of the programme is to enable the Learner through practical and observed learning to integrate the theoretical and practical aspects of personal, social and horticulture skills development.
All learners are supported in identifying their individual learning needs. Learners are encouraged to develop to their maximum potential at their own pace in a supported learning environment of equality and inclusion.
The overall purpose of the Programme is to assist Learners achieve a FETAC Level 5 major award in Horticulture within the National Framework of Qualifications to facilitate progression to further learning and/or work.
This horticulture programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the principles of horticulture and the skills to pursue a career in this sector
About the course
- This course will start on the 10th October 2011.
- It will take place in the Kilrush, Co. Clare
- Classes will run each morning from 9.15am to 1.15pm from Monday to Friday.
- The course will run for 36 weeks.
- Learners will be afforded an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification with FETAC.

- Food Crops
- Work Experience
- Landscape Construction & Maintenance
- Safety & Health @ Work
- Plant Science
Non certified modules to include: IT, Personal/Group Development, Health & Safety and Life Coaching.
