Introduction to Adventure Tourism

Commencing in Kilrush on Tuesday 1st May 2012
Tuesday and Wednesday for 9 weeks from 9am to 2.30pm.
This programme is aimed at individuals who would like to explore opportunities for engaging in the fitness industry. Opportunities for employment or self employment in both indoor and outdoor recreation activities will be examined. This programme will run over 18 sessions (2 days per week for 5 hours each) and will introduce individuals to health and safety in sport and adventure activities.

This FETAC Level 5 programme will include;
- Outdoor Leadership Skills.
- Safety and Welfare in Recreation.
- Adventure Tourism as a Business
- Adventure Activities in the West Clare Area & Environs, Running, Coaching, Cycling. Camping
Growing for Market

Coming to Kilrush in the Autumn 2012
This programme is aimed at individuals who would like to develop their skills and prepare for trading in local farmers markets. This programme will run over 18 sessions (2 days per week for 4 hours) and will introduce individuals to the maintenance and care of plants, growing crops for market, organic growing, landscaping ideas, allotment establishment and garden makeover tips.

This FETAC Level 5 programme will include;
- The care and maintenance of plants
- Growing crops for market
- Organic growing
- Landscaping ideas
- Allotment establishment and garden makeover tips.
Introduction to Tourism & Customer Care
Coming to Ennistymon in the Autumn 2012

This programme is aimed at individuals who would like to explore opportunities for engaging in the Tourism industry. Indviduals will be facilitated to look for opportunities for employment in many aspects of the tourism sector. This programme will run over 18 sessions (2 days per week for 4 hours each).
This FETAC Level 5 programme will include;
- Tourism Industry
- Hospitality Skills
- Customer Care
- Reception Skills

Improve your DIY Skills for Employment
(Miltown Malbay & Kilrush)
CLDC is running a 10 week DIY welding, engineering and small engine maintenance course in North & West Clare over the coming months. This course is aimed at beginner and intermediate DIY enthusiasts who wish to improve their skills to create self-employment or job opportunities.
Participants will undertake repair tasks and initiate project demonstration techniques and receive a FETAC level 4 component certificate in Metalcraft. The course will facilitate the development of practical skills in the areas of arc welding, lathe work, gate manufacturing, servicing, hydraulic hose applications, bearing applications, rust treatment and two stroke engine operation and maintenance.
As part of this programme learners will be given an opportunity to gain skills in basic car servicing.

Growing for Direct Market.
(Kilrush & Ennistymon)
This horticulture module is aimed at individuals who would like to develop their skills and prepare for trading in local farmers markets. This programme will run over 15 sessions and will introduce individuals to the maintenance and care of plants, growing crops for market, organic growing, landscaping ideas, allotment establishment and garden makeover tips.
Individuals will be offered an opportunity to complete a FETAC component certificate upon successful completion of the programme.

Computers
Learn a wide range of skills in computers at intermediate level. Skills include typing skills, internet, email, using social media and budgeting skills.
These courses are funded under the Back to Education Initiative.
Eligible candidates must

be in receipt of a Social Welfare payment or
-
be a dependant of an individual, who is receipt of the payment,
-
have received less than 5 D’s in their leaving certificate or have a medical card.
