Education and Training
Welcome to CLDC Education & Training Section. We at Clare Local Development Company believe that education is transformative. We have all lived through a challenging number of years and more and more the Irish Government is investing its time and efforts into the area of education and lifelong learning. People are now being encouraged to re skill and/or up skill. Education has the ability to open up new doors and create new pathways in life. Not only can education bestow on us practical skills that will make individuals more competitive when the labour market re awakens but education also has the power to allow us to grow and develop personally, increasing our confidence and giving us an opportunity to get out, meet new people and feel a sense of pride as we face new challenges.
Clare Local Development runs a range of courses throughout the county. These include;
- Local Training Initiatives.
- Back to Education Initiative
- LCDP Short Skills Programme
- LEADER Education & Training

LTIs are FETAC accredited training courses which are designed to improve learners’ skills and enhance their capacity to gain employment. They are funded by FÁS and the Local and Community Development Programme. LTIs provide an easily accessible route to an educational qualification for the workplace. Many learners have progressed onto further education, after taking their first step in a LTI.
These practical courses offer a FETAC Level 3, 4 or 5 qualification and vary in length from 7 to 12 months. To qualify, participants must be in receipt of a social welfare payment. A training allowance may be paid by FÁS to learners who meet FÁS qualifying criteria.
